Hotel Wi-Fi login page not appearing on your iPhone? Start here

Your iPhone can join a Wi-Fi network without having internet access yet. Hotels, cafés, and airports often use a welcome page that must be completed first. This is commonly called a captive portal.

Start here: Confirm the network name with staff, join it through Settings, and complete its expected sign-in page. A Wi-Fi connection by itself does not prove the venue’s internet is working.

1. Open the network’s welcome page

Open Settings → Wi-Fi, then tap the venue’s network and wait for its login screen. If it does not appear, tap the information button beside that network and look for Join Network.

Use the access details supplied by the venue and check any charges or terms before agreeing. Apple describes these steps in its captive Wi-Fi guide.

Treat a request to install unfamiliar software, a configuration profile, or a certificate as a reason to stop and ask staff for help. Do not bypass a browser certificate warning to reach the portal.

2. Check whether you dismissed the login

Choosing Without Internet can leave the iPhone joined while disabling automatic login for that network. Return to the network’s details and try joining again. Where available, turning off Auto-Login makes the welcome screen appear on the next connection.

Auto-Join is a different setting: it controls whether the phone reconnects when the network is in range. Turn it off for a venue you do not want to join automatically. These options are explained in the same Apple guide.

3. Find out who needs to fix it

Ask whether another device can get online through the same network. If several devices fail, report it to the venue. If yours alone fails, restart the phone and test again; also note whether it connects successfully at another location.

Apple’s iPhone Wi-Fi troubleshooting guide uses comparisons across devices and networks to narrow down the cause. Its network reset removes saved network settings, so reserve that broader step for persistent problems rather than one hotel login page.

When asking staff for help, say whether the network is visible, whether the portal opens, and whether your access code is rejected. Never send them your Apple Account password.

4. Use a fallback if you need to get online now

If your mobile plan allows it, disconnect from the venue’s Wi-Fi and use cellular data. Check roaming and data allowances first. For a laptop, our iPhone hotspot guide explains the next steps.

Once the portal accepts your login, open a familiar website to check the connection before relying on it for a call. Our public Wi-Fi safety guide covers the precautions to keep using afterward.
